"It hurts to lose," Lövin noted in front of some 400 local politicians of the Green Party, struggling not to break down and cry.

"It was our dreams, our visions, our beliefs about the way forward that were lost," she continued, alluding to Donald Trump's surprising victory in the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday.

"All those voters who hope that the U.S. will now regain its former glory and return to a dream state that never even existed will be disappointed," Lövin stated while trying to hold her tears back.

Then, suddenly re-energized, the leftist Deputy Prime Minister passionately urged her party comrades not to give up but rather to continue the "struggle".

"There is no time to mourn and wish for a different reality. We have to work together," Isabella Lövin said, according to Dagens Nyheter.
